On Sunday night, Brandy made a surprise appearance at the 2022 BET Awards. The global superstar appeared on stage with rising rapper Jack Harlow to perform a freestyle of his Billboard Hot 100 chart-topper “First Class.”

Harlow performed his song “Poison” with Lil Wayne prior to Brandy’s appearance. He then proceeded to “First Class,” where he attempted to demonstrate some choreography.

But it was Brandy’s unexpected arrival that really got the crowd going. She joined Harlow and his dancers, showing the audience and viewers what stage presence is all about.

Brandy took to Instagram on Monday to express her gratitude for being a part of the performance.

She wrote, “This was a magical night.” @jackharlow and his amazing team made me feel so loved and appreciated. I haven’t been to the BET Awards in a very long time, and it’s always been my dream to win one. Thank you for treating me like family. And to the audience for making me feel #firstclass Jack, me and you for life. “

Last month, Harlow’s Hot 97 interview trended on Twitter. During his interview, he played a game in which he had to identify the artist of a song after hearing a snippet. He couldn’t place Brandy as the singer of “Angel In Disguise” from her 5x platinum album, Never Say Never. After receiving several hints, one of which involved Ray J, he inquired, “Who is Ray J’s sister?”

It wasn’t long before the video went viral. Brandy eventually responded on Twitter in a humorous tone. “At 43, I’m going to murk this dude in rap on his own beats and then sing is ass to sleep,” Brandy tweeted.

“See, I can have a little fun too, hehe,” she added.

“All my love”

And Brandy meant exactly what she said. Two weeks later, she released “First Class (Freestyle),” on which she flexed her rapping skills.

“Jack of all trades, now I’m here jacking for beats / Queens’ canceled, but you could never cancel a queen / Crown concrete stone / Crown concrete stone / An angel in disguise, I roam the earth, God / Like the son of Jehovah’s own / I bear witness to my second coming,” she rapped.

Brandy’s first televised appearance since announcing her new partnership with Motown Records was on Sunday.

“Thank you, God, for making my dream come true!” I’m thrilled to announce my collaboration with @motownrecords and the legendary @theethiopiandream. “Thank you to my team and my beautiful fans for riding with me all year,” Brandy said on Instagram.

She is currently working on her eighth studio album, which will be released after 2020’s.

Brandy told Rated R&B earlier this year that she was inspired to start recording more music.

“All of the music I’ve done on Queens, being able to do music in the studio on a consistent basis, has inspired me to want to get back, right after Queens, to do my own music,” Brandy said. “There will be no eight-year wait the next time.” I’m too inspired and fired up in my spirit. I can’t wait.”

“I want to try different things with my music this time around, not just stick to R&B,” she added. I’m more than just R&B; it’s in my blood. I want to let it all hang out. I just want to give whatever I have left.”
