Obesity is a complex disease involving an excessive amount of body fat. Obesity and its health complications? It isn’t just a cosmetic concern. It’s however a medicinal problem that increase the risk of other diseases and health problems, such as heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure and certain cancers.
However, there are many reasons why some people have difficulty losing weight. Usually, obesity results from inherited, physiological and environmental factors, combined with diet ,physical activity and exercise choices. Although there are genetic, behavioral, metabolic and hormonal influences on body weight, obes occurs when you take in more calories than you burn through normal daily activities and exercise.
Also, people with obesity are more likely to develop a number of potentially serious health problems, including;
1.Heart disease and stroke
Obesityy makes you more likely to have high blood pressure and abnormal cholesterol levels, which are risk factors of heart diseases and strokes.
2.Type 2 diabetes
Also, Obesity can affect the way the body uses insulin to control blood sugar levels.
3.Certain cancers
Again, it may also increase the risk of cancer of the uterus, cervix, ovary, breast, colon, gallbladder, pancreas, kidney and prostate.
4.Digestive problems
Obesity can also increase the likelihood of developing heartburn, gallbladder disease and liver problems. However this can be avoided.
5.Sleep apnea
People however with obesity are more likely to have sleep apnea, a potentially serious disorder in which breathing repeatedly stops and starts during sleep.
6.Severe COVID-19 symptoms
Obesity however increases the risk of developing severe symptoms if you become infected with the virus. People with severe cases of COVID-19 may require treatment in intensive care units.
Obesity can also diminish the overall quality of life. It can affect your quality of life which include;
1. Being depressed
2. Same and guilt
3. Social isolation
4. Lower work achievement
5. Disability
